About Nerja
NERJA is a tourist town on the Costa del Sol ("Coast of the Sun"), which has an official population of 22,000 residents, a third of which are foreign residents. Nerja is part of the local region of the Axarquía, which has lots of attractions, one of the most famous being the Nerja Caves and the paintings within, known internationally, which have an important historical value,
and are an important historical reference point in the south of the Iberian peninsular.


NERJA has more than a dozen beaches, urban beaches, isolated beaches, busy beaches, coves, even nudist beaches.  Outstanding are the beaches of Burriana, Torrecilla, Calahonda, El Salon, Playazo (all near the centre of town) or La Alberquilla, a nudist beach in a quiet cove a little away from the centre of Nerja.

NERJA IS HISTORY: with the Balcón de Europa, an unforgettable place, which was inaugurated by the King Alfonso XII in 1885.

NERJA IS NATURE: with the Natural Parks of the Sierra Tejeda, Alama and Almijara and the Natural Park of the Cliffs of Maro.

NERJA stands out for its subtropical climate very similar to that of the Coast of the Province of Granada.

NERJA´s gastronomy is based on the Mediterranean diet in which the produce of the sea plays a vital and truly delicious part.

NERJA has many restaurants, bars, pubs, discos.  It offers a cultural and historical experience as well as numerous activities such as golf, diving, walking/trekking, horse riding, buggies/quad bikes and much more.
